Fascinating Arguments
EFF has won its case arguing that Grokster is not liable for illegal use of its software (just as VCR manufacturers are not liable for people copying TV programs to videocassettes). While they argue about music, they might as well be arguing about traded movies as well, so I'm gonna make a stretch here and blog about this important court decision on my movie blog. The real reason I'm posting this, though, is becaus an MP3 file is available, showing the major arguments by both sides before the judge. It's a really fascinating discussion, and, as a supporter of P2P (didn't your mother teach you to share?), I get a kick out of the EFF lawyer beating the shit out of the Big Media lawyers in terms of arguemnt strength, clarity, and articulation.
