GreenCine
Netflix may be the coolest thing since sliced bread, the microprocessor, or Steve Zahn, but GreenCine ("green scene") is the best thing since Netflix. In my experience, GreenCine has a bigger selection (especially with indie and rare releases). Their 'Advanced Search' feature is excellent, and their coverage of each DVD is more complete. They also have many great departments like helpful movie primers, tons of articles, and dozens of 'suggested films' lists. It has no "recommendations" feature like Netflix, but Rottentomatoes and the All Movie Guide are better for that, anyway. Not to mention that they somehow manage to be cheaper than Netflix, at $19.95 for 3 out at a time.
So, there's a catch, right? Well, yes. GreenCine is really only worth your time if you live in or near California, because GreenCine only has one distribution center, in San Fran. As such, delivery times for the midwest or east coast can be as much as 4 days each way. Hopefully they will open new distribution centers across the country as they grow. But if you live in California, and currently use Netflix (or not), GreenCine just might be a godsend for you.
