SWOG #2 - Ramen Noodles
Ramen noodles are a Staggering Work Of Genius. They taste great, are extremely cheap, easy to prepare, easy to store, easy to dress up, and are healthier than... uh... cheesecake, and... cyanide.
Ramen noodles originated in China as Lo-Mein, which simply means boiled noodles. Ra-Men is the Japanese pronunciation for the Chinese characters of Lo-Mein, and it was the Japanese who pioneered 'instant ramen'. In 1970, Nissin Foods introduced Ramen Noodles to the western world, and gave us the best thing since sliced bread. Or, perhaps sliced bread was the best thing since Ramen noodles? Yeah, something like that.
Ramen noodles are available in more than a dozen flavors from several brands, and they are a staple of college students, poor families, and struggling New York actors. Ramen noodles enjoy virtually unamious appreciation across the globe. Annually, 53 BILLION packages of Ramen are sold. In Japan, they are distributed universally as part of disaster-preparedness and emergency relief kits. Theories that a steady diet of Ramen noodles leads to eternal life and the ability to fly remain unconfirmed.
